New industry recognition platform will honor talented individuals who are growing and expanding the GM, HBW, nonfoods and retail technology categories, and next-gen leaders.
Nominations are currently being accepted for a new retail industry leadership awards program that will recognize emerging and established leaders employed in general merchandise; health, beauty, and wellness (HBW); nonfoods; and retail technology solutions sectors. The nomination deadline is June 14. Winsight Grocery Business is collaborating with leading retail industry trade association Global Market Development Center (GMDC) to present Champions of Change, which will annually honor recipients from the retailer, wholesaler, supplier, vendor and service provider communities who consistently demonstrate excellence and superior results, logged from March 1, 2018, to March 1, 2019, in three categories:

These candidates are making a mark-and a difference-in their stores, companies and communities through demonstrated leadership, results-oriented achievements, peer mentoring and related exceptional contributions to their companies’ overall success.

These candidates consistently demonstrate outstanding leadership, dynamic vision, inventive strategic direction and innovative solution-building while providing exemplary inspiration for a new generation of up-and-coming leaders.
“As we begin celebrating our association’s 50th anniversary this year, we couldn’t be prouder to give back to the industry with this recognition for welldeserving leaders who are making a mark on the future of retail,” said GMDC President and CEO Patrick Spear. “At GMDC, we focus on leading innovation and connecting people and companies to opportunities for growth, and the Champions of Change awards program is the ideal manifestation of our guiding values.” The charter class of 2019 Champions of Change will be revealed in Winsight Grocery Business’ September 2019 print issue and will be honored at a celebratory event during GMDC’s first annual Selfcare Summit on Oct. 3, 2019, in Indianapolis. Aligning with the Champions of Change initiative, GMDC’s four-day Selfcare Summit will deliver a holistic approach to the retail, healthcare, product, service and technology industries by focusing on the consumerization of healthcare and its impact on the future of retail.
“We are proud to collaborate with GMDC for our new Champions of Change platform, which was developed to shine a light on the retail industry’s men and women who are most deserving of recognition for their dedication and outstanding leadership contributions to their companies, communities and customers they serve,” said Winsight Media EVP of Grocery Jeffrey Friedman. “We are honored to partner with GMDC to highlight these deserving individuals in both Winsight Grocery Business’ September issue and the Champions of Change event Oct. 3 in Indianapolis.”
